Hacienda Pinilla – A Serene Tropical Retreat

Hacienda Pinilla – A Serene Tropical Retreat

There are only seven months left to enjoy the beauty and comfort of our spacious Hacienda Pinilla residence, which has recently undergone several upgrades, including the installation of air conditioning in all living spaces and a refreshed kitchen.

About the Residence

This five-bedroom residence is in the stunning Guanacaste region of northwest Costa Rica, just south of Tamarindo, where tropical forests, pristine Pacific-coast beaches, and world-class surfing await.

Surrounded by 4,500 acres of beautiful ranchland and dry tropical forests, this home combines elements of Spanish Colonial construction with contemporary comforts across 3,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor living space.

The home’s beautiful exterior blends perfectly with the surrounding natural landscape, creating a feeling of serenity as soon as you arrive.

The covered patios offering views of the surrounding forest, as well as the first and second holes of Hacienda Pinilla’s golf course, are ideal for morning coffee, after-dinner unwinding, or midday siestas.

The 16-meter lap pool with loungers and covered cabana provides the perfect spot to swim or soak up the sun. An outdoor kitchen with sink, cooktop, and prep area brings meals outdoors. And a hammock and umbrella-covered picnic area under nearby trees round out the resort-style backyard.

Inside, the spacious yet cozy interior features a large, open floor plan with a second-story loft and grand windows that promote a feeling of light and spaciousness throughout the home. Colors pulled from nature — creams, blues, greens, and shades of orange — accent the living room. And newly installed air conditioning in the living room, along with fans throughout the home, will keep you cool even on the hottest days.

The kitchen is both modern and colorful, with turquoise cabinets and accents that highlight the sleek gray countertops and high-end stainless appliances, while a large center island offers space to congregate while prepping meals.

In fact, the home offers multiple areas for family and friends to come together, as well as plenty of space to spread out.

Why Visit

A vacation in Guanacaste means plenty of options for outdoor fun — even in the rainy season. Our Equity Estates home is set within the exclusive Hacienda Pinilla resort community, which provides access to incredible amenities including a tennis center and the Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club featuring a poolside tiki bar and restaurant. The club has an infinity-edge pool that seems to flow right into the blue Pacific waters, and direct access to Playa Avellanas – voted one of the top ten beaches in Central America.

Nearby, there’s even more to explore and enjoy, including boat tours through the mangroves at Las Baulas National Park, sunset sails and catamaran cruises, ziplining, or simply spending an afternoon in Tamarindo visiting boutique shops, historic sites, and art galleries.

Three Perfect Days in Hacienda Pinilla

It’s easy to fill a vacation in Costa Rica with exciting activities balanced with rest and relaxation. But if you only have time for a quick getaway to Hacienda Pinilla, our Destination Manager has come up with her ideal 2-3 day itinerary to help you embrace the “green season” pura vida lifestyle.

Day one: Keep it Local – Breakfast at home on one of the covered patios, followed by surf lessons on Playa Avellanas and a light, fresh lunch at the Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club restaurant. In the afternoon, hang out by the lap pool at home or play a round of golf. For dinner, your Destination Manager will arrange a private chef to prepare an unforgettable meal of local favorites, customized to your tastes and preferences.

Day two: Explore Tamarindo – Head out early for a morning of ziplining at a private reserve. Afterwards, dig into a delicious lunch with panoramic ocean views at Azul. Stroll through town in the afternoon, window shopping or picking up locally made crafts. And then enjoy dinner at Tamarine Asian Fusion.

Day three: Mix it Up – Start your day with a traditional local breakfast (called “desayuno tipico”) at the Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club, then pickleball at the Hacienda Pinilla Tennis Center. Afterwards, pack up snacks, water, and sunscreen and spend a few hours relaxing and playing on the beach. Later in the day, let your DM arrange a horseback tour through the community’s ranchland trails. In the evening, wrap up an incredible trip with reservations at the upscale Sabanero Steakhouse.

Tips for the Best Experience

Prep for the weather — The rainy season in Costa Rica spans May through November, but in Guanacaste, the season tends to be a little less wet and rainy than in other parts of the country. This means you can still enjoy outdoor activities. Just be prepared for short bursts of rain (usually in the afternoon) by planning big excursions in the morning or early evening hours and keeping a poncho or umbrella handy.

Rent a car — Your Tamarindo home is about an hour’s drive from the airport, so a rental car is necessary for getting around. Your Destination Manager will help with the arrangements before your trip, so the process will go smoothly.

Use a golf cart — Setting up a golf cart rental is a great idea if you plan to take advantage of the Hacienda Pinilla amenities. The community’s Beach Club and other attractions are an easy 10-minute cart ride away.

Availability

There’s availability through January for extended stays or shorter adventures.

Happy travels and, as the locals say in Costa Rica, Pura Vida!
