Dubai is characterized by a vast landscape of desert which transforms into a modern, almost futuristic style of skyscrapers along the coast. Dubai is known for its towering skyscrapers, including the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa. The city is dotted with man-made islands, luxury hotels, beaches and some of the largest shopping malls in the world. From SCUBA diving to hot air balloons to camelback rides, there’s something for everyone in this ultra-modern metropolis.
Camel racing is a true spectator sport in this part of the world. Camels race around the track while their owners follow along in 4x4s. A day at the camel races is representative of Middle Eastern culture and dates back to the 7th century. The stands are often filled with camel owners, trainers, and handlers. Races start early—between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.—and commentary and announcements are made in Arabic.
Deep Dive Dubai offers a unique diving experience filled with adventure and wonder for both beginners and certified divers. Dive or snorkel in the world’s deepest pool with a depth of almost 200 feet. It features a sunken city for diving enthusiasts to explore and holds 3.5 million gallons of water. Snorkeling on the surface and scuba-diving up to 12m can be enjoyed by anyone over the age of 10.
Experience multiple desert pursuits in one day, including ATVs on a red-dune desert tour from Dubai. Zoom off on an ATV, ride a camel, go sandboarding, enjoy henna art and Arabian-costume photos. Enjoy a tasty barbecue dinner buffet accompanied by live traditional tanoura and “Ladies Khaliji Dance” or engage in a deep meditation. This six hour adventure covers all the bases.
