three perfect days Tag

Lake Tahoe is one of those places that seems too good to be true. Nestled within the Sierra Nevada Mountains, on the border of California and Nevada, it’s a place known for its stunning natural beauty, sophisticated laid-back vibe, world-class resorts, and charming small towns, all set around the largest alpine lake in the U.S.

Nicknamed “The Big Blue,” because of its crystal-clear cobalt water, the lake itself features over 70 miles of pristine coastline and dozens of lovely beaches. And with the surrounding mountains reflected in the water, blue sky above, and pines and aspens dotting the landscape, it’s easy to see why Travel + Leisure named it one of the Most Beautiful Lakes in America.

Best of all, Tahoe is an amazing year-round vacation destination. With over 300 days of sunshine throughout the year and ample snowfall in the winter months, it’s a dream for outdoor enthusiasts in any season. In winter, there’s skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and more. In the warmer months, swimming, kayaking, hiking, golf, and windsurfing are the big draws. And if indoor activities are more your thing, Tahoe has that covered as well, with great boutiques to explore, incredible dining, and entertainment options along the north shore and 24-hour casinos and a thriving nightlife scene along the south.

We recently interviewed Danielle, our Destination Manager for Lake Tahoe, to create the perfect three-day itinerary for a getaway to this idyllic vacation spot.

Day One: Outdoor Adventure

Kick-off day one with coffee and breakfast at the house, enjoying the views from the home’s main floor deck before heading out for adventure in the great outdoors. The residence is a true ski-in/ski-out mountain home, just minutes from Northstar Village, making for quick and easy access to the lifts and trails.

In the winter, grab your skis or snowboard and hit the slopes. With 3,100 skiable acres, award-winning terrain parks, and 100 trails to choose from, there are runs for every experience level. There’s also an excellent Ski & Ride School with lessons available for both kids and adults, whether you’re new to winter sports or just want to brush up on your skills.

If you prefer to explore at a slower pace, the sweet mid-mountain trails, designed for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, are the perfect place to hang out. But don’t forget to bring your camera because the views are amazing.

In summer, the mountain trails are perfect for a morning of hiking or mountain biking and can be as leisurely or as challenging as you like. But, if you prefer to spend the day on the water instead, head over to the lovely Sand Harbor Beach on the Nevada side for a morning of swimming, kayaking, and fishing in the clear blue water, or stroll the paved trails along the coastline.

Whichever adventure you choose, just be sure to let your personal concierge make any necessary reservations for you in advance.

“Planning ahead is always best with Lake Tahoe!.” says Danielle. “In the winter, ski lessons fill up fast, especially for younger children, so we’ll be sure to get those booked for you ahead of time. Then in the summer, people visit for the lake, and we’ll give you tips to avoid the crowds.”

After an adventurous morning, refuel with a delicious lunch at the lakeside Lone Eagle Grille – their sandwiches and burgers are excellent and the views are unbeatable. Or head back to the house for a simple meal followed by a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Your local host will have the kitchen fully stocked for you upon arrival, so all of your favorite food and drinks will be on hand.

After a little R&R in the quiet comfort of your vacation home, take an afternoon lake cruise on the Wild Goose IIan elegant, hand-built wooden boat inspired by the original Wild Goose from the gilded age of Lake Tahoe. It’s a wonderful way to see the lake year-round.

Wrap up an amazing first day with dinner at Moody’s Bistro Bar & Beats for craft cocktails, great local cuisine, and live music in an elegantly cozy space. Enjoy truffled deviled eggs, a seared ahi niçoise salad, or their house-smoked pastrami sandwich.

Day Two: Explore and Enjoy

On day two, get out and explore Northstar Village and the nearby town of Truckee, and enjoy some of the non-mountain activities Tahoe offers.

Start with breakfast at Squeeze In, a colorful spot known for signature omelets and friendly service, located in Truckee’s historic downtown area, then pay a visit to the scenic Donner Memorial State Park. Here you can stroll or snowshoe the China Cove Trail along Donner Lake and Donner Creek, view the Pioneer Monument and learn more about the history of the area.

During the summer and fall, enjoy an afternoon round of golf at the picturesque, 18-hole Northstar Golf Course or wander through Northstar the Village. In the winter, spend the afternoon checking out the shops, burning off energy at the popular outdoor ice skating rink, and enjoying food and drinks at Rubicon Pizza Company or Frites. Then kick back at the Tree House, Mountainside’s contemporary clubhouse, and take advantage of the heated pool, bar area, and fireside game room — all perfect for a little late afternoon relaxation.

For dinner, take Northstar’s highlands gondola up to the Ritz Carlton, where your personal concierge will have reservations for you at Manzanita, one of Tahoe’s best — and most romantic — restaurants. With artfully crafted local cuisine, an extensive wine list, and a stunning open-kitchen layout, it’s a must-do dining experience

Day Three: Make Memories

For your final day in Tahoe, pick up a healthy to-go lunch from EuroSnack in Northstar Village and take a short drive to Emerald Bay State Park on the southwestern edge of the lake. This national landmark is a great place to picnic and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. It’s also home to the historic Vikingsholm mansion, one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the western hemisphere. Guests can hike the one-mile trail down to the home and check out the Visitor Center at the bottom of the trail to learn more about the park and we’ll arrange for a guided tour of the inside of the mansion.

In the afternoon, visit the renowned Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort (formerly Squaw Mountain) for year-round recreation options such as skiing, hiking, tubing, and snowboarding. While there, be sure to take the unforgettable 10-minute ride up the mountain on the scenic Aerial Tram, which takes you 2,000 feet up to Palisades Tahoe’s High Camp, overlooking the lake and iconic Tram Face below.

From April through September, for an afternoon of adventure on the water instead of on the mountain, consider a Tahoe White Water Tour. This 2.5-hour rafting trip down the Truckee River’s Class II and III rapids is an adventure the whole family can enjoy and will be an experience you won’t forget.

To cap off an exciting day, plan on dinner at The Soule Domain. This charming log cabin restaurant is just a short drive from your Tahoe home and serves fresh, French-inspired cuisine in an unbelievably cozy dining room.

Or better yet, let us arrange a private chef from Forklore Foods to prepare dinner for you while you relax with a cocktail on the patio or by the fire.

Indulge in California’s famed Napa Valley, a cornucopia of farm-to-table, fine dining, wine, and the good life. Defined by mountain ranges and influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Napa Valley enjoys a dry Mediterranean climate perfectly suited for growing grapes and outdoor living. There is much more to do in Napa Valley than drink wine and tour vineyards, including outdoor pursuits and sports, museums, history tours, cooking classes, and one-of-a-kind shopping.

We interviewed Brittany, Destination Manager for our Napa Valley home, to create the perfect itinerary for a visit to wine country.

Day 1: Settle in and wine tasting in St. Helena

Upon your arrival, your local host will greet you at the charming residence located in the heart of Napa Valley.  Your home feels like a European country estate, with romantic views of a nearby vineyard and rolling hills for beautiful sunsets, lush gardens and a spacious, modern layout. After settling in, head to picturesque Main Street which is just a short bike ride or walk away to explore the shops, galleries and tasting rooms before dinner. Your concierge will arrange an afternoon tasting at a winery if you’d like to jump right into your Napa experience. Nearby St. Helena is home to dozens of wineries and vineyards, including BeringerCharles Krug and Louis M. Martini, plus the boutique and upscale Fantesca EstateSomerston EstateTrinchero Napa Valley and HALL Wines

There are exceptional restaurants throughout Napa Valley and St. Helena is home to many of them. For dinner, your concierge will reserve a table for you at the well-known Goose and Gander which grows most of their produce on a local two-acre farm. Feast on amazing rustic American food from their seasonal menu, imbibe on the fresh, creative libations or a bottle of local wine.  Sip on the Hemingway Daiquiri or the Bali Spice Old Fashioned. Nibble on garden radishes, fried olives, farm cheeses and house cured charcuterie. Feast on steak, pork, chicken, fish and even delicious vegetarian entrees.

Day 2: Special winery tours and the CIA way

Today enjoy wine tastings throughout Napa Valley on your customized winery tour.  Private transportation with Beau Wine Tours & Limousine Service will be arranged and an itinerary unique to your taste and wine preferences will be crafted. Beau chauffeurs are not just drivers, they are knowledgeable ambassadors of the region and the wine industry. They will educate and enlighten for a truly enjoyable experience.

Following your wine tasting tour, spend the afternoon learning to cook the CIA way at the famed Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in downtown Napa. The CIA offers cooking classes and tours and what better place to be inspired by local ingredients and flavors than in Napa! Your personal concierge will handle all the details, you just need to select the classroom of your choice: Farm to Table, Julia’s Kitchen: Celebrating French Cuisine, Cooking Fundamentals, or Flavors of the Mediterranean Table, to name a few.

After class, walk along the paved river trail through town and shop the many boutiques and stores for that special memento. The CIA offers a gift shop and chef supply store for that perfect kitchen tool. For art lovers, there are galleries galore full of paintings, sculptures, pottery, photography and drawings. The Napa General Store is fun to shop for furniture, wine accessories, home goods, and locally made items. They also have a very popular patio and restaurant for a snack. Of course, there are the many tasting rooms and breweries to help you meander around town. For an early happy hour, head over to the Hog Island Oyster Bar at Oxbow Public Market. This deliciously casual oyster and seafood haven showcases the amazing farmers, fishermen and artisan food producers of Napa Valley and northern California.

For dinner, you have a reservation at local favorite Brasswood Bar + Kitchen in St. Helena for an incredible menu of fresh comfort food inspired by local harvests. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. Try the Herb Infused Pappardelle and Short Rib Sugo or the Duck Bolognese in red wine sauce. Local wine and handmade cocktails complement your meal, and their Butterscotch Panna Cotta is the perfect end note.

Day 3: Up, up, and away…Napa by air

Though you may have planned your trip to Napa for the wine, a sunrise hot air balloon ride with Napa Valley Balloons, Inc. just might become the highlight of your vacation. Your experienced and knowledgeable pilot will act as your guide, sharing interesting information and breathtaking views of the natural beauty of the region from above.

Back on terra firma, enjoy a leisurely bike tour through the Calistoga Bike Shop to wrap up your final day. Your expert and fun guide will lead you on an outing, whether you’d like to explore nature, visit local villages or squeeze in a few more vineyards and tastings.

Tonight, relax at home with Chef Alex, a legend with EE investors, for a five-star meal prepared in your home. Taste local wine and nibble on small bites on your beautiful terrace while Chef Alex creates a grilled peach and prosciutto salad, oven-roasted king salmon with corn and green squash, and grilled rack of lamb with fingerling potatoes. Be sure to save room for his famous pumpkin almond cake and caramel ice cream.

The moment you step off your plane in Miami, you’ll feel as if you’ve arrived in an international and tropical city. You’ll hear multiple languages, smell delectable cuisine and Cuban coffee as you stroll past beachfront cafés, and see beautiful people dressed to impress. Warm turquoise water, dazzling white-sand beaches, and exciting watersports beckon travelers to kick off their shoes and hit the water. Dining in fabulous restaurants, dancing in buzzy nightclubs, exploring world-class cultural attractions, and shopping in glamourous designer boutiques are just a few of the things to do in Miami.

The modern, luxurious Equity Estates residence is ideally situated on Rivo Alto Island in Biscayne Bay to give you easy access to all the city has to offer. We consulted with our destination manager Chelsea, and here are her suggestions for how to spend three perfect days in this Art Deco city.

Day One: Hit the Beach

Miami’s South Beach consistently lands on “best beaches” lists in all sorts of media, so it should come as no surprise spending time on this two+-mile stretch of white sand is one of the top things to do here. Early birds can walk the beach or boardwalk at sunrise before the crowds arrive. If you want to cover more ground, your local host will arrange electric or road bikes to be dropped off at your residence so you can explore up and down Miami beach. “Make time to stop into longtime favorite Cuban diner, Puerto Sagua, for a café con leche and savory breakfast,” Chelsea recommends.

When you’re ready to plant your toes in the sand, you have a few options. The beach for which Miami is known runs from 23rd Street to the island’s southern tip. “To visit the lively party section, head to the stretch between Fifth and 15th Streets,” Chelsea suggests. “For a more subdued atmosphere, choose a spot anywhere north or south of this area.”

Your local host will arrange reservations for you to enjoy lunch at any of the casual taquerias near the beach, such as Taquiza. After a morning of relaxation, it’s time for some fun action on the water and your local host will arrange Jet skis and paddleboards from  BouYah Watersports concessions, or you can soar above the ocean while parasailing or take a ride in a banana boat.

Head back to the home and wash off the salt and sand in your outdoor shower, put on your best casual-chic attire and climb the stairs to your marvelous rooftop patio for a sundowner cocktail. “The rooftop patio is one of my favorite features of the house,” Chelsea says. “The patio is huge and features amazing sunset views of the beach and Miami’s skyline.”

Another option is to walk over to the nearby Lido Bayside Grill and watch the sunset over the Miami skyline and Biscayne Bay. For dinner, a must is the legendary Joe’s Stone Crab restaurant, known for sourcing stone crab and seafood from its own fisheries since 1913. “After dining on some of the area’s best seafood, stop into the Minibar for a nightcap, a delightful midcentury lounge with a contemporary twist, and a beautiful patio,” Chelsea says.

Day Two: Cultural Exploration

After a good night’s rest in one of your residence’s four luxurious bedrooms, take a few wake-up laps in your private pool, and then enjoy breakfast al fresco in the poolside cabana. If you prefer having a barista whip up your morning latte, Panther Coffee is just a short walk across the bridge. For a smoothie or acai bowl made using fresh fruit and veggies, walk around the corner from Panther to Delicious Raw Kitchen & Juice Bar.

Day One was all about the beach, so Day Two’s suggestions showcase some of Miami’s vibrant cultural attractions. First up is the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Tour jaw-dropping European extravagance in this Mediterranean-style villa and surrounding spectacular 10-acre gardens, once home to industrialist John Deering.  The Main House is adorned with imported gilded panels, fresco ceilings, carved mantels, and overflows with treasures dating to the 15th century. “As you stroll the Formal Gardens, you might think you landed in France’s Palace of Versailles gardens,” Chelsea says.

After surrounding yourself in Vizcaya’s Old World opulent luxury, for a decidedly different experience, the modern and sophisticated Miami Design District is next up. “This 18-block area offers a cornucopia of upscale fashion boutiques, edgy art galleries, trendy restaurants, and engaging public art,” Chelsea says. Enjoy an a la carte or prix fixe lunch at Le Jardinier, where Michelin-starred Chef Alain Verzeroli’s menu focuses on the highest quality vegetables, seasonal ingredients, and fresh herbs. If you prefer to spend more time browsing than dining, the district houses dozens of cafes, pop-ups and food trucks for quick bites. “For an afternoon treat, pop into Frohzen,” Chelsea says. “They make these delicious cakesicles you have to try.”

No visit to Miami is complete without spending some time cruising Biscayne Bay aboard a luxury yacht. “Prime Experiences offers an outstanding sunset cruise aboard 40-foot+ yachts that includes champagne and sushi platters,” Chelsea says. You’ll marvel at the sights as you glide past monster estates with incredible architecture and hopefully, you’ll spot playful dolphins. For dinner, dress to impress and enjoy exquisitely prepared Italian cuisine at the AAA Four Diamond award-winning Scarpetta inside the iconic Fontainebleau Hotel. After dinner, visit the Bleau Bar where legendary icons such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Bob Hope, and Lucille Ball once held court.. If you’ve got the energy, dance-off dinner at LIV, in the hotel’s phenomenal 18,000-square-foot nightclub.

“If you prefer a more relaxing evening, let us arrange for a personal chef to come in and prepare dinner for you,” Chelsea says. Relax by the pool or the rooftop patio as your chef prepares a divine dinner.

Day Three: Exotic Wilderness Adventure

Just an hour west of Miami lies the Everglades National Park, a vast subtropical wilderness with American crocodiles, manatees, alligators, turtles, birds and more. “The Everglades is a place you have to see to believe,” Chelsea promises. “The best way to truly experience this unique landscape is on a private airboat ecotour with Everglades River of Glass Adventures.” Our local host will arrange tours and adventures to make your trip to Everglades one to remember.

If your family is looking for some time to relax, head back and relax by your pool for a few hours. Then, to ease into your evening, sip a Jasmine Martini or Old Cuban at Bar Centro inside the tony SLS South Beach Hotel. For dinner, Chelsea will have secured you a reservation at The Bazaar by José Andrés in the same hotel, where this James Beard award-winning chef delights diners with innovative creations inspired by his Spanish roots. After dinner, stop into Swizzle Rum Bar & Drinkery, a hidden gem of a speakeasy for a traditional or modern cocktail with a selection of 150+ rums.
