Things to Do in Los Cabos: A Luxury 3–5 Day Travel Itinerary
At the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, where refined elegance meets exceptional natural beauty, you’ll find one of the world’s most sought-after luxury vacation destinations. Welcome to Los Cabos, Mexico.
Two towns, Cabo San Lucas and San José Del Cabo, lie at the heart of Los Cabos. They’re connected by a 20-mile “corridor” — an unforgettable stretch of coastal desert highway that features some of the world’s finest resorts and best-regarded golf courses.
For Equity Estates investors, Los Cabos is an exquisite vacation destination. Choose from five luxury Equity Estates portfolio properties and experience the best of Los Cabos with help from our expert Vacation Concierge team.
To assist with planning, this is your Los Cabos travel guide, featuring a five-day itinerary packed with some of the best things to do in Los Cabos.
Planning Your Ideal Los Cabos Escape
For a well-balanced Los Cabos trip that combines relaxation and exploration, we recommend staying at least three to five days.
In three days, you have enough time to see the top sights in both towns and relax on one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines. Five days lets you extend your visit beyond the Dos Cabos and the Corridor to explore the wider Los Cabos region.
Day 1: Iconic Land’s End and Sunset Sails
Summer 2026 sees the soccer World Cup come to Mexico, and you can expect Cabo San Lucas to live up to its reputation as a party town. Its famous beach bars, clubs, and rooftop terraces will transform into venues for fútbol watch parties (and you can fly direct to Guadalajara, Monterrey, or Mexico City from Los Cabos International Airport to catch a game).
But most of the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, are on or near the water. The town is the gateway to “El Arco,” a spectacular natural rock formation that marks the mingling of the Pacific Ocean with the Sea of Cortez at Land’s End.
You can only reach Land’s End and El Arco by boat. Take a water taxi or glass-bottomed boat from Cabo San Lucas, and stop by the sheltered Lover’s Beach for a swim. On a calm day, you can even paddleboard from the nearby Medano Beach.
Alternatively, book a sedate sunset cruise to El Arco. These two- to three-hour excursions by sailboat or catamaran often include appetizers and cocktails for an unforgettable evening at sea.
If you prefer your meals on dry land, exploring the dining options around the marina is one of the best things to do in Cabo.
Day 2: Art and Culture in San José Del Cabo
While Cabo San Lucas has glamor and nightlife, its companion city, San José Del Cabo, maintains a more relaxed, historic charm. The 18th-century Jesuit mission sits in the heart of the city, which is also famous for its authentic, Old Mexico ambience and architecture.
The weekly Art Walk is a must-see. Every Thursday from November to June, the central Arts District is transformed as local galleries open their doors and the streets fill with pedestrians and music. Enjoy a warm evening of local art, conversation, live music, and late-night tacos.
And speaking of food, San José Del Cabo has many excellent restaurants, but the can’t-miss stops are Acre and Flora Farms. Both of these nearby farm-to-table restaurants source from local organic farms and feature exceptional seasonal produce on their menus.
Day 3: Azure Waters and Coastal Relaxation
After two days of sightseeing, it’s time to relax. There’s a beach to suit every temperament in Los Cabos.
If you’re looking for surfing, snorkeling, or beach club amenities, the Equity Estates concierge team can arrange for you to get access to one of the Costa Azul beach clubs. Or head to Santa Maria Beach for a quiet, calm day on the soft sands.
Days 4-5: Beyond the Corridor to Todos Santos
Extend your stay in Los Cabos to five days to explore the wider region. On day four, take a scenic drive from Cabo San Lucas to the “Pueblo Mágico” of Todos Santos. This “Magic Town” is a picturesque gem, combining small-town charm with white-sand beaches and exquisite local arts and crafts.
For your last day, make the two-hour drive from San José Del Cabo to Cabo Pulmo. This National Marine Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site offers some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in North America.
Luxury Travel Logistics and Insider Safety Tips
The Equity Estates Voyager app gives you 24/7 access to the full range of portfolio properties to check availability and manage bookings. Before you travel, our Vacation Concierge team can create a personalized, detailed itinerary of activities so every moment is filled with excitement and relaxation in turn, combining into an unforgettable experience.
Getting around Los Cabos is not difficult. There are abundant taxis and rideshares available for short trips into one of the two main towns. For more extensive travel around the area, car rental is recommended.
All five Equity Estates portfolio properties in Los Cabos are secure in gated communities or resorts. Los Cabos in general, and the popular downtowns and resort corridor in particular, are safe. But it’s always prudent to remain aware of your surroundings.
Be careful of the usual hazards of a popular vacation destination. It’s best to avoid deals that sound too good to be true. Don’t get sucked into the notoriously aggressive “Shark Tank” at the Los Cabos airport, where pushy salespeople stalk the arrivals hall hawking taxis and timeshares.
With Equity Estates, you can coordinate with your Vacation Concierge to book trusted, reliable vendors for your preferred activities. We’ll also pre-book airport transportation to keep you out of the Shark Tank.
Most importantly, take care at the beach. The Baja Peninsula’s Pacific Coast is infamous for strong, fast currents. A black flag on the beach means that it’s not safe to swim, and there are several beaches around the area where black flags are essentially permanent.
Medano Beach, Chileno Bay, and Palmilla are among the most reliably calm, protected waters for you to enjoy safely. You can always consult with your Equity Estates local host for up-to-date beach recommendations.
