Three Perfect Days in Paris

Three Perfect Days in Paris

Few cities capture the imagination quite like Paris. From its grand boulevards and world-famous museums to intimate cafés tucked along cobblestone streets, the City of Light offers endless ways to explore and fall in love. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, each day brings the opportunity for new experiences — morning croissants enjoyed beneath wrought-iron balconies, leisurely strolls along the Seine, or sunset views from Montmartre after a day of sightseeing.

For our Equity Estates investors, Paris is more than a postcard-perfect destination — it’s an invitation to live like a local in one of the world’s most celebrated capitals. Whether you’re drawn to the culinary scene, the city’s art and architecture, or simply the allure of walking along historic boulevards and side streets, our home in the heart of the city places you steps away from iconic landmarks, stylish boutiques, and Michelin-starred dining.

With the help and expert knowledge of our Paris Destination Manager we’ve put together a sample itinerary for three perfect days in the city, sharing some of our favorite restaurant picks, day trips, and adventures.

DAY 1: Explore the City

Start your Paris immersion with sightseeing in and around your neighborhood. Most places take 30 minutes or less to get to on foot, but public transportation (metro and buses), bikes, and Uber are available if you prefer to ride instead of walk for at least some of your day’s outings.

In the morning, enjoy a breakfast of coffee and fresh, flaky croissants at La Boulangerie des Invalides. Dine inside the cozy, pink-walled space or at one of the sidewalk tables — perfect for people watching. Afterwards, make your way over to the gardens and museums at the golden-domed Hôtel des Invalides. Originally built as a hospital and home for disabled soldiers by Louis XIV, it’s now a grand complex featuring the Musée de l’Armée and the Tomb of Napoleon. Admire the architecture and small, courtyard green spaces, take in the views from the Esplanade des Invalides and consider making time for a tour of the museum and tomb for a look at French military history.

From there, it’s a short walk to the Musée d’Orsay and the Rodin Museum — either of which are worth a visit. Musée d’Orsay houses the largest collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings in the world in a stunning, Beaux-Arts-style, former railway station. Musée Rodin is a mansion museum with gardens, showcasing the lifetime works of the French sculptor.

After the museum of your choice, enjoy the traditional French cuisine and classic ambiance at La Petite Chaise, one of the oldest restaurants in Paris. With bookcase-lined walls, white tablecloths, and low, natural lighting, it’s a cozy spot to relax with a delicious meal. Start with the onion soup or warm goat cheese puff pastry before moving on to an entrée. The duck confit, wild seabass in butter sauce, and the hand-cut beef tartare are excellent options.

Work off the calories, post-meal, with a stroll through the neighborhood’s charming streets as you head over to Jardin du Luxembourg (the Luxembourg Gardens).

At over 56 acres, the gardens are lush and inviting, featuring over 3,000 trees (some dating back to the early 19th, 17th and even the 13th centuries), rows of hedges and flowerbeds, open, green lawns and more. It’s easy to spend an hour or more walking its tree-lined promenades.

While there, visit the famed Médici Fountain and look for the garden’s 102 statues. You’ll find famous French authors and literary celebrities, queens of France, political figures and more modern, abstract works among the greenery. When you’re ready for a break, grab a spot next to the Grand Bassin du Luxembourg to relax and enjoy the scenery. Then consider a self-guided tour through the Luxembourg Museum to view special exhibitions of European art.

That evening, cross the Seine and head north to the hilltop Montmartre district for a tour of the Basilica of Sacré Cœur. If you’re able, climb the nearly 300 steps (of a very narrow staircase) to the top of the dome for 360-degree views of the city. Even if you forego the climb, walking the grounds and taking the self-guided audio tour inside the holy landmark will give you an awe-inspired appreciation of the architecture and beauty of the historic site.

Afterwards, stroll through the Place du Tertre to view artists at work on the square and then have dinner at the famed Moulin de la Galette. Your DM will have reservations for you at this historic spot specializing in authentic French flavors, wines and cocktails. Expect Burgundy snails, Provencal-style frog legs, traditional coq au vin and seasonal specials — all expertly prepared and plated.

On the way back to your Equity Estates home, stop for a nightcap at Le Lipstick, a small, vintage-style speakeasy with fun, kitschy décor.

DAY 2: Day Trip to Versailles

On day two, your DM will arrange a special outing for you — a private, guided tour of The Palace of Versailles, located nearly an hour away. Dating back to the 17th century, this opulent former home (and seat of power) features the iconic Hall of Mirrors, the Grand Trianon, stables, tennis courts and more.

Your expert, English-speaking driver/guide will pick you up at your Equity Estates home and whisk you away to the prestigious World Heritage site. The half-day excursion will include transportation, pre-reserved entry, a tour of the estate and gardens, and lunch — personalized to your interests and pace.

In the afternoon, visit another iconic landmark with a walk through Champ de Mars park to see the Eiffel Tower up close and in-person. Inspired by French and English gardens, the greenspace is one of the largest in the city and is the perfect spot for an easy stroll with beautiful landscaping and amazing views. The Eiffel Tower is the focal-point, of course, and can be seen towering overhead from different vantage points. Buy a ticket and line up to tour the landmark tower or take in the grandeur from the outside while exploring the interesting natural (and man-made) attractions in its gardens.

That night, you’ll have reservations at the upscale Arpège. This three-Michelin-starred restaurant from Chef Allain Passard, presents seasonal dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. They are also vegetarian, but even meat lovers will find something to love from the unique menu. Using fresh produce harvested from his own gardens (alongside other locally sourced ingredients) to dictate each day’s offerings, Chef Passard creates flavorful entrees that are both light and savory. A prix fixe chef’s dinner service and a la carte options are available.

DAY 3: Shopping, Baking, and a Night on the Town

Have breakfast at home before going out to explore some of the city’s antique shops and secondhand markets.

The Old and Used Book Market George Brassens is an outdoor, weekend market set under a 19th century pavilion within a lovely park. You can expect roughly 60 vendors selling vintage maps and prints, comic books, antique books and used contemporary selections. Even if you don’t plan to buy, strolling through the market to see what’s on display is a nice way to spend part of the morning.

The nearby Marche aux Puces de la Portes de Vanves is a friendly outdoor market with about 400 vendors selling everything from antique jewelry, vinyl, porecelain, items from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and more. Unpretentious and cash-only, it’s a great place to bargain shop.

North of the Seine, you’ll find the queen of Paris’ markets — the Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen. The largest second-hand market in the world, it’s home to over 3,000 antiques dealers, shops, showrooms, and flea market vendors, all concentrated within 18 acres of streets, sidewalks, and alleyways. It’s impossible to see everything in this market district in one trip, but it’s definitely a must-visit destination whether you’re looking for specific treasures or just want to browse.

Another must-see spot is Rue Cler, one of the city’s most famous market streets, located near your Equity Estates home. The street is overflowing with charm (and cafes, boulangeries, greengrocers, and specialty shops). It’s where locals go to shop for favorite foods or meet up with friends at a sidewalk café. While there, browse the shops, and grab a coffee or treat to keep your energy up.

Balance out the secondhand market shopping with a visit to the high-end Le Bon Marché. As Paris’ oldest department store, this iconic, three-story shopping center is the place to go for luxury items and designer fashions. Even the interior décor is luxe, with bright, airy atriums, crisp white walls and pillars, wrought-iron railings and towering escalators.

For lunch, enjoy a quintessential brasserie experience at the elegant La Terrasse du 7. The dining room is lovely, and the food is traditional French and deliciously prepared. We suggest trying the daily special or digging into the lamb chops, prawn risotto, or cheeseburger with pomme frites. Or opt for a lighter meal of gazpacho, three-cheese board, and fresh salad. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

In the afternoon, your Destination Manager will arrange for you to take a small group baking class at Maison Fleuret, with your choice of hands-on workshops — croissant, macarons, eclairs, souffle, or lemon tart. Each class is taught in English, led by experienced pastry chefs, and lasts about two hours. Best of all, you can enjoy the treats you’ve made at the end.

That night, see Paris from a different point of view with an after-dark motorcycle side-car tour. Your expert guide will take you through the city’s neighborhoods, lit up and glowing under starry skies. Along the way, you’ll see landmarks and lesser-known gems and learn more about the city and Paris life from your driver.

Afterwards, wrap up an incredible three days in Paris with an unforgettable dinner and show at Crazy Horse. The Parisian cabaret club features artistic, theatrical burlesque-style productions and special performances. Dinner is offered before or after (as part of a package) at Ginger, a contemporary, Thai-inspired, Asian-fusion restaurant a few blocks away.

The menu is innovative and fresh, and a few standouts are the beef with tamarind, pad Thai and miso Salmon entrees. But save room for dessert, so you can taste the Pavlova with passion fruit or ginger sorbet before calling it a day.
